VN’s export turnover to Middle East up 65%

Viet Nam’s export turnover to the Middle East is estimated to reach over US$4 billion in 2012, according to the Viet Nam Customs.

The total export value of Viet Nam to some main markets, such as United Arab Emirates (UAE), Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Iraq, reached US $4.2 billion, up 65% compared to 2011.

UAE is the largest importer of Viet Nam in the region with the estimated import turnover of US$2 billion, followed by Turkey (US$850 million) and Saudi Arabia (US$597 million), according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Main Viet Nam’s export items to the Middle East include cell phones and accessories (US$1.5 billion), fiber (US$340 million), seafood (US$218 million), computers, electronic products and spare parts (US$160 million) and garments (US$136 million).
Viet Nam expects to raise the figure to US$5 billion by 2015.
